About the Event
Join TCA to remove litter pollution from Kit McConnico Park and help protect East Texas wildlife. Litter accumulates in the woods next to the roads in the park, where it may go unnoticed. There is a small creek nearby that is a tributary of the Angelina River. A tributary is a stream that flows into a larger river or lake. Some of the litter can get stuck in our forests, but much of it makes its way into Sam Rayburn Reservoir and Steinhagen Reservoir, potentially into the Gulf of Mexico. The accumulation of litter on that long journey can pose a significant threat to the survival of many species. Wildlife often mistake litter for food; some animals get entangled in fishing lines and other debris, it can release chemicals, and it just plain looks bad. Together, we can improve the health of the local ecosystem. So come on out and help us protect our freshwater aquatic wildlife, our state’s coastal habitat, and marine wildlife!
