About the Event
Meet at Glen Rose High School Parking lot at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, for river section assignment, instructions on trash disposal, and to sign waivers. Cleanup will last 2 to 6 hours, dependent upon river section assigned.
Join us to remove litter pollution! The Brazos River is the longest river flowing through Texas. Its watershed stretches from New Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico. Bring your kayaks or canoes and life jackets (required) to help remove injurious litter from the river and protect Texas wildlife. We have limited kayaks and canoes that will be available on a first come basis. We also have several areas that can be cleaned up on foot along the riverbank and in shallow areas.
When you take action, you help protect the delicate living river system and the wildlife that depend on it. Raccoons, ducks, turtles, and even marine wildlife like dolphins, sea turtles, and pelicans will have a safer habitat all the way down to the Gulf. Join the Friends of the Brazos River, Rio Brazos Chapter Texas Master Naturalist, Texas Land Conservancy, The Brazos River Authority (BRA) and TCA to protect and keep the Brazos River clean!
