About the Event
Join us on April 27th to maintain a remnant prairie in Lakewood Park. Exotic plants can escape from yards into the wild, disrupting natural communities and ecological processes. Invasive species often outcompete native plants by overgrowing spaces and decreasing biodiversity. They serve little use for native wildlife because they have not coevolved together. We need your help at Lakewood Park to remove invasive plants from one of Dallas' few remaining prairies. You'll help restore this prairie toward ecological health and rewild it to benefit bees, butterflies, bats, beetles, birds, and other pollinators.
Following the event, we'll host a City Nature Challenge, where we'll explore Lakewood Park to discover local wildlife. You'll document plants, pollinators, and insects you observe throughout Lakewood Park using the iNaturalist app. Join us and many others to participate in the 2024 City Nature Challenge.
