About the Event
Join us Monday, January 15, from 9 am – 12 pm, for Planting Day with the National Park Service at Big Thicket National Preserve. We’ll enjoy a day in the woods planting native grasses and pollinator plants to support biodiversity in the Big Sandy Unit and restore habitat for the species that rely on longleaf pine savannas.
TCA helped establish Big Thicket National Preserve, America’s first National Preserve, in 1974, which now protects 113,000 acres of wilderness. The Big Thicket is one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world, home to 89 tree species, carnivorous plants, 60 mammal species, 300 species of birds, and many reptiles and amphibians.
A BIG thank you goes out to the following organizations!
- Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve
- Big Thicket Natural Heritage Trust
- Big Thicket Association
- National Parks Conservation Association
- National Park Service
